Legislative Compliance
To meet its mandate, Ontario Health requires access to data, including personal health information (PHI) and personal information (PI), from organizations and individuals throughout Ontario. When handling this information, Ontario Health is subject to the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA), the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA), and the Gift of Life Act and is committed to respecting the privacy rights of individuals, safeguarding their information, and complying with Ontario’s privacy laws. One of the requirements for Ontario Health under PHIPA and the Regulations is to make certain information publicly available.
